Permaculture
Extending beyond personal sustainability, Mikal Lambert shares his permaculture expertise through design consulting, organic gardening training & support services. With more than 20 years of immersion in permaculture, Mikal integrates sustainable practices into farming, community development, and enterprise.
With Steph Lambert, they adeptly manage a ¼ acre Permaculture Food Garden demonstrating the efficacy of permaculture principles. This vibrant space produces about 80% of their food and supplies organic vegetables to local shops and community outlets.
Inline with the permaculture principle of "one element, many functions," Mikal's garden serves as a seed repository for future plantings and contributes to a seed distribution initiative “Swellendam Food Security Initiative”. The donated seeds play a pivotal role in a food security program led by Enviro Solutions Centre (ESC), the NGO co-managed by Mikal and his partner. Through this holistic approach, Mikal not only practices sustainable agriculture but actively engages in initiatives that promote community well-being and enhance food security.
